Portage County sheriff’s deputies say they have arrested two men accused of firing shots and leading law enforcement on a hunt through the Ravenna Arsenal after a robbery early Monday.
Christopher A. Miller, 28, and Bradley M. Harvey, 25, both of Akron, are charged with aggravated robbery.
The search began shortly after two men robbed the Circle K at 4307 State Route 44 in Rootstown Township just after midnight. One waited at the vehicle pumping gas during the robbery, the other used a semiautomatic pistol to beat and then rob a clerk, sheriff’s officials said.
Ravenna police found the men first in Ravenna Township and eventually in Charlestown Township. After they crashed their vehicle on Rockspring Road, they ran into the wooded Ravenna Arsenal, police said. As the officers chased them, the men fired several shots at the police cruiser, deputies said.
Officers from the Portage County Sheriff’s Office, Metro SWAT and Ravenna police, along with FBI agents and State Highway Patrol troopers, aided in the search.
The suspects were being held in the Portage County Jail.
